Antique 10k Yellow Gold Solitaire Ring with Natural Purple Sapphire Size 6.5
Gorgeous early 1920s-1930s solid 10k Yellow Gold solitaire ring with a classic deco stepped shoulder design featuring a rare prong-set approximately .75 carat round-faceted eye-clean slightly lavender-purple natural Sapphire. Stamped '10k', this beautiful size 6.5 ring weighs approximately 1.79 grams and is in excellent condition, especially for its age. Oddly, the Sapphire has been glued to the 4 prongs, nearly impossible to notice in person without magnification, such as with a loupe or in our photos.
Sapphire, a precious gemstone belonging to the Corundum family, is renowned for its captivating blue hues, though it occurs in a spectrum of colors known as "fancy Sapphires." With a remarkable hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to Diamond, it exhibits exceptional durability. Traditionally associated with royalty and wisdom, Sapphire has been treasured for centuries. Its deep blue varieties, in particular, are highly prized, making it a classic and timeless gemstone for jewelry.
