Vintage Sterling Silver Ring with Turquoise Size 5.5 Horseshoe

  • $39.00

This exquisite 1970s ring features a natural Turquoise cabochon, bezel-set in a beautifully crafted Sterling Silver horseshoe-style mounting. Although unstamped, this size 5.5 ring has been independently tested as Sterling Silver, weighs approximately 5.06 grams, and has a Native American style to it, but we cannot attribute it to any specific Silversmith or Tribe. The top of the ring is 19.5 mm at its longest, tapering to 2.7 mm at the bottom of the band. The vintage ring displays a dark patina typical of its age and has been cleaned but not polished.

Turquoise, an ancient and revered gemstone, is celebrated for its distinctive blue-green hues, ranging from sky blue to vibrant green. This opaque mineral, a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminum, often features intricate matrix patterns, adding to its unique character. With a hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, it's relatively soft, requiring gentle care. Historically significant in many cultures, particularly in Native American traditions, Turquoise is valued for its beauty and perceived protective qualities.
