Wonderful solid 14k White Gold ring with a 9 x 7 mm blue star Sapphire, likely synthetic, accented by 2 small round-faceted natural Diamonds. Stamped with a maker's mark and '14k', this wonderful size 11.25 vintage-style ring is in very good condition and weighs approximately 9.11 grams. The top of the ring is approximately 11.9 mm at its widest, tapering to 4.3 mm at the bottom of the band for comfortable wear. Our multi-sourced soft lighting, which is good for photographing jewelry, is not ideal for phenomenal Gemstones, such as the asterism displayed in Star Sapphires. The star in this gemstone is vibrant and nearly perfect, with a six-point configuration typical of high-quality synthetic material.

A mesmerizing variety of the mineral Corundum, the Star Sapphire is defined by its stunning optical phenomenon known as asterism. This six-rayed star—or occasionally a four- or twelve-rayed star—appears to float and glide across the domed surface (cabochon cut) of the gem when viewed under a single, direct light source. The effect is caused by tiny, needle-like inclusions of the mineral Rutile, which reflect light along specific crystallographic axes. A hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it an exceptionally durable stone, second only to Diamond. Historically, Star Sapphires have been highly prized as powerful talismans, often referred to as the "Stone of Destiny" and believed to bring protection, wisdom, and divine guidance to the wearer. While most famous in its rich, velvety blues, this unique Sapphire can be found in various colors, each one embodying the enhanced energy of its base color alongside the symbolism of the celestial star.

The Diamond, a true marvel of the mineral kingdom, is renowned for its exceptional brilliance, unparalleled hardness, and timeless beauty. Composed of pure carbon crystallized in an isometric system, its atomic structure grants it a remarkable Mohs hardness of 10, making it the most scratch-resistant natural substance on Earth. This inherent strength, combined with their high refractive index and dispersion, allows Diamonds to capture and scatter light with mesmerizing fire and scintillation, creating their iconic sparkle. Primarily sourced from ancient volcanic pipes called Kimberlites, Diamonds form deep within the Earth's mantle under immense pressure and heat before being brought to the surface. Beyond their widely recognized use in jewelry, where their resilience symbolizes enduring love and commitment, industrial-grade diamonds are vital for cutting, drilling, grinding, and polishing applications across numerous industries. Available in a spectrum of colors, from colorless to fancy yellows, pinks, blues, and more, each Diamond possesses a unique character, making it a highly coveted and scientifically fascinating gemstone.
