Beryl is one of the mineral world’s most versatile and prestigious chameleons, acting as the structural canvas for some of the most celebrated gemstones in history. In its purest form, this beryllium aluminum cyclosilicate mineral is entirely colorless, known as Goshenite. However, its unique hexagonal crystal structure features open channels that easily trap trace impurities, transforming the mineral into a breathtaking spectrum of distinct varieties. When infused with chromium or vanadium, it emerges as the deep, velvety green of emerald; traces of iron yield the serene, ocean-blue of Aquamarine or the sun-kissed gold of Heliodor; and manganese coaxes out the delicate, romantic pink of Morganite or the ultra-rare crimson of Bixbite.
